Vishwa Animation
A Profile
~
Amidst
the despair and debris of that old technology dream of the 1990s,
as epitomized in the dot.com dream-turned-nightmare of Y2K &
Y2K1, computer based creative practices have stood out as an
island of calm, quiet and profitable slog,.. even resurgence.
A recent Gartner report has for example
projected a surge in animation exports from countries like Inda
~ specifically 2D/3D animation and special effects to the Hollywood
blockbusters.
Indian animation companies are having
the ride of their lives: e.g. 2D major UTV Toons is presently
in the process of recruiting 300 animators, and has its plate
full till 2003; Pentamedia Graphics is sitting
on an 18 month order book worth $180
million; Crest Communications, who're concurrently making a full-length
animation film called "Automation" with Columbia Tristar,
alongside ongoing job-work for Warner Brothers and Disney, etc.,
reckon they can stretch workload to any limit!
A lot of this revolution is obviously
also about companies like Vishwa Animation Pvt. Ltd. ~ a tight
and talented team of 40 animators In Mumbai, combining experience
exceeding 2,00,000 man-hours.
And ~not surprisingly~ a lot of that
experience has to do with jobs for heavyweight international
studios like Disney, Warner Bros., Rich Animation, Dic Entertainment,
etc.
